Even amidst the Covid-19 (Coronavirus) crisis, at Webplanners we are optimistic and working on ways to overcome the downfall, by brainstorming new strategies. Of paramount importance is developing tactics, for both now and when life as we knew it prior to this pandemic begins to return.

New content is not always the answer.

Your business is affected simply because people are searching more about the Coronavirus and less for the topics, products, and services that you offer. The situation is worse than the Google Core update effect and it is not something you can try to overcome with “better content”.

No matter the type or size of your business, you should focus on measures to ensure your business survives the economic impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and how to improve and grow it once the pandemic passes.

We are encountering a period of market volatility, not seen since the GFC.  What is certain is that the market will recover.  So, you develop a plan and be prepared for better times.

There are a number of measures your company can take to make sure that you position your business correctly and bounce back. Think of it as “business as usual”.

  • If you are a personal coach or a trainer, this is the best opportunity for you to go online. Think of alternative training methods. If you cannot go to the gym or the training studio, conduct classes online.
  • Similarly, teachers, administrators, and students can successfully spin up virtual classrooms, participate in online classes for distance education.

2. If you run a local restaurant,

If you run a local restaurant build your online delivery option. By having this option on the website, you can save heavy fees on each order from third party carriers such as menulog, uber eats, etc.

3. If you have a retail “bricks and mortar” shop,

If you have a retail “bricks and mortar” shop, develop an eCommerce solution. It is the perfect time to focus on online sales. Think about how you can get to a larger audience and how you can use your website to reach new clients. If you don’t have an eCommerce site we can help you.

If you are a marketing manager this is your time to focus on developing strategies to execute now and when things are back on track.

Speak to your customers – This is one of the best suggestions for endearing your business to your customers. Get on the phone to see how they are. Tell them that you are “still in business”. Connect with your customers and get to know about their experiences with your product and/or services.

If possible, record their videos which you can later publish on your site. In the future, these videos will be a rich source of insider info for your blog posts, social content, media releases, and more.

Update your ‘Google My Business’ profile for local customers and let them know:

  • what’s changed;
  • share Google Posts with updates and offers; and
  • update your business description and contact information in case people are trying to reach you.
